Description and Basic Information ::
|
| The Carousel of Progress actually originated from the 1964-65 World’s Fair in New York City. The 20-minute spectacle is comprised of a revolving theater that traces the impact of technological advancement in American society. Beginning from the turn of the 20th century, each decade is recognized by the technological progress that marks that period. Audio-animatronic families garbed in the fashion of the times which they represent, guide audience members through the technological advancements of society and its effects on their everyday lives through song and narration. Much of the presentation is narrated by the humoristic father figure, Jean Shepard, whose voice is most recognized in the narration of the holiday film “A Christmas Story.” |
