Replacing SuperStar Television, “Disney’s Doug” is an original musical production that will captivate any audience member, regardless of whether or not one is familiar with the trials and tribulations of MGM’s newest superstar, Doug Funnie, an angst-ridden 12-year-old from Bluffington.
The premise for the production is as follows: The popular rock group, The Beets, is putting on a final concert before they break up, again. Doug and his buddy Skeeter have tickets to the sold-out event. However, as Skeeter is such a good pal, he suggests that Doug invite the girl of his dreams, Patti Mayonnaise, to go to the concert with him instead. But being so insecure, Doug suffers fits of doubt. Finally he asks Patti to go to the concert. But he’s too late. She’s already going with Roger, Doug’s worst enemy.
Despite his broken heart, Doug transforms himself into his ultra-suave alter ego, Quailman. A strange series of fantastic events ensues, a situation so difficult for quailman that an audience member (selected during the pre-show) must be pulled from the crowd to assist. Once the show comes back to real life, the audience is able to enjoy a four-song set by The Beets. And Doug gets to walk Patti home. |
