:: Description and Basic Information ::
In the northwest quadrant of the Magic Kingdom is a taste of the legendary American frontier, Disney style. Frontierland represents the Wild West of the late 19th century emanating the lovable charms of that period with employees garbed in cowboy hats and boots, chaps, leather vests and other such attire. The dulcet sound of banjos, fiddles and pianos bounces between western storefronts as the tantalizing scent of barbeque lingers in the air.

Frontierland is home to the zaniest troupe of singing bears ever assembled, entertaining guests of all ages with foot-stompin’, knee-slappin’ country music in the Country Bear Jamboree. Just across the river is Tom Sawyer Island, where famous Injun Joe's Cave, the Magnetic Mystery Mine and old Fort Sam Clemens await exploration. The island is reached by log rafts. After a period of exploration on Tom Sawyer Island, guests may want to indulger their sense of adventure at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, where they can take a wild ride on a runaway mine train. Young frontiersmen may also try their hand in Frontierland Shooting Gallery, where fast-moving targets taunt and tease potential riflemen. Splash Mountain is the highest peak in the Magic Kingdom and features a log-flume ride with one of the world's longest flume drops -- a five-story, 47-degree descent reaching speeds of nearly 40 mph.
