The Haunted Mansion is Disney’s tribute to the macabre. The ride is possessed by lots of spooky sounds, eerie illusions and plenty of ghosts. But don’t worry – the spirits are much more noisy than they are evil. Most children should be able to handle the scares of such things as moving tombstones, a suit of armor that comes to life and a chilling gust of cold, damp air. There are moments of extreme darkness, but Disney saw fit to exclude the dripping blood and gore. Booooo! (no pun intended). Some of the illusions and special effects involved are worthy of praise, but the best is saved for last, as all visitors manage to pick up a ghostly stowaway by the end of the ride.
The eight-minute ride is viewed from two-person cars that travel through the mansion. The cars keep the line moving briskly, so the wait is rarely excessive. |
